Safety Considerations Before Using myPlan

It’s very common for an abusive person to misuse technology to monitor their partner’s activities. Controlling partners will often look through your devices to see who you are texting, what websites you’ve visited, and what’s in your search or download history. They often use tech to track your location or get access to your online accounts. You may not even know that technology-facilitated abuse is happening. Having an app related to safety planning or domestic violence on your device or in your browser history could put you at risk. If you are concerned about someone discovering myPlan, please take steps to use it as safely as possible.

Important Note: It is best to not download any apps you don’t want other to see if you have “family sharing” turned on, all apps you download could be visible to others. If family sharing is enabled and you turn it off, your partner may get a notification if you change the settings.

2. Make sure your device is not connected to other devices that a partner could see through cloud sync

3. Before using the myPlan web app or visiting our website, set your web browser (Chrome, Safari, etc.) to private or incognito mode

4. Delete myPlan after you’re done using it

Important note: It’s not possible to delete free or paid apps from your purchase history on Apple devices. You can “hide” purchases on your own device, but they can still be discovered, and they will not be hidden from a family member’s purchase history if “family sharing” is enabled.
